This blog is all about those cold nights we sit in front of the fireplace and give in to all the useless but joyful stuff. As Oscar Wilde stated in the preface of his book The Picture of Dorian Gray: “We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless.”
Join in if you feel like being useless for a while.
There’s one band the indie music lovers can’t stop talking about and
that band is Alt-J (∆). They have just won the Mercury Prize with their debut album, An Awesome Wave, which was released last May. An Awesome Wave
is filled with mellow pop vocal melodies as well as hip-hop inspired grooves. I
first heard about them when they headlined Milhões de Festa, a small festival
in my hometown. No one had heard about these guys before but all of a sudden
everyone was falling in love with their music. It is simple but groovy.
Completely worth a listen.
