This blog is all about those cold nights we sit in front of the fireplace and give in to all the useless but joyful stuff. As Oscar Wilde stated in the preface of his book The Picture of Dorian Gray: “We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless.”
Join in if you feel like being useless for a while.
Enemies announced via their facebook page that drums for the new album are almost done. To celebrate they released their first studio diary video which is rather funny. Can’t wait for it!
We’ve Been Talking is Enemies’ debut album. Enemies is an Irish band who play some sort of
post-rock (wait!).
I’m aware that a lot of dull bands have been emerging within this genre lately
but Enemies is a whole different case. We’ve Been Talking is rather catchy and
perfectly crafted freely waving between a more simplistic approach and math-rock
influenced angular melodies. As it seems, they belong to two quite interesting
collectives. One is the Richter Collective along with And So I Watch You From
Afar, Adebisi Shank and several others, the other is the Machu Picchu along
with toe, Mouse on the Keys and Tangled Hair.
Enemies, during this album, proves us how tempo changes are completely
natural for them and yet they still sound laid-back like few.
