Last night I had the chance to see the British musician Denis Jones performing live. I did not know much about Denis or his work but I was blown away by his performance. Denis’ songs are loop based but as he proudly claims “all analog” and live, no computers involved whatsoever.

The Wooden Wolf is the folk songwriter alias of Alex Keiling. In his own words this project is intended to be raw, spontaneous & free with no premeditation. An emotion, an impulse, a spur of the moment and a new song is born.
His 14 track debut album, 14 Ballads Op.1, was released last December and can be downloaded from his bandcamp page, you just have to name your price.

For me he is undoubtedly one of 2012 surprises but let’s go back a couple years.
In 2010 Keaton Henson released an album through his bandcamp page which was recorded in his bedroom. This album gained a cult status among a few, two years later it is re-released and becomes one of the most praised releases of the year. Dear… is the album’s name.
Who am I to tell you how it sounds? Listen it yourself. It is too honest to be described by words.

You don’t know how lucky you are was the first single of Dear….
