This one is for the Portuguese readers: Granta magazine will have its
Portuguese edition!
It was founded in 1889 by a group of Cambridge University students. At
the time it was named The Granta, in reference to the River Cam, which runs
through the town, and it was mainly a literary magazine but it also covered
politics and humor. During the 1970’s the magazine met with some financial
difficulties as well as students’ apathy. However, in 1979 it gained a new life
and its audience became larger. Granta is a case of singular success and after
Brazil, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria, it is now time for Portugal to be blessed
with its own independent edition.
The first issue will come out in May and the second during December 2013
by Tinta-da-China. Don’t let it pass.
